process line.
Amal in line detonation flame arresters offer
protection against high flame velocities, where
the velocity is supersonic and is accompanied
by a shock wave. Amal detonation flame arresters
are designed and tested for overdriven (unstable)
detonations where the flame speed exceeds the
speed of sound and the explosion pressure is
significantly higher than in a stable detonation.
Therefore there are usually no restrictions
on their location in the process line.
